"Stray Living" began in Puerto Rico as an attempt to reveal the faces of the non-human animals who live and die on our streets, animals who have become so tied into the cultural and urban landscape that they are often rendered invisible. By moving closer to them, bearing witness to their pain and acknowledging their individuality, this work seeks to bring them back into view and enable a reflection of our roles in shaping this reality. As life has taken me to different places, so has the project travelled with me, tracing an animal welfare issue that is both commonplace and deeply human in its origins.
